Lunch in the middle of Patagonian nature is a part of all our expeditions, creating the perfect mix between adventure and relaxation.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Lunch is included in all the expeditions.
  • The Glaciar Upsala and Classic expeditions will have lunch at El Quincho restaurant and meeting point.
  • For the Trekking, we will bring boxed lunches.
  • On the Horseback Ride, we will enjoy an outdoor lunch.

TRANSPORTATION FOR VISITORS

Estancia Cristina is situated inside Parque Nacional Los Glaciares.
Daily departures are available from Puerto Punta Bandera to Estancia Cristina.
Daily returns are available from Estancia Cristina to Puerto Punta Bandera.

WHAT IS THE PATAGONIAN CLIMATE LIKE?

The climate in this part of the lovely southern tip of the planet is intense, unpredictable and dry.

AVERAGE TEMPERATURES AND DAYLIGHT HOURS

  • Fall: Min. 3ºC – Max 13ºC / Sunrise at 7:50 am and sunset at 8 pm.
  • Winter: Min. -3ºC- Max 5ºC / Sunrise 9:50 am and sunset 5:50 pm.
  • Spring: Min. 5ºC – Max 15ºC / Sunrise 7:40 am and sunset 7:45 pm.
  • Summer: Min 9ºC – Max 19ºC / Sunrise 5:30 am and sunset 10 pm.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

It is best in Patagonia to dress in layers to be well-equipped to deal with sudden temperature changes and be able to acclimatize as necessary. We suggest wearing comfortable clothing, as well as a fleece jacket and a windbreaker, ideally waterproof. Wear or bring sunglasses, sunblock for skin and lips, gloves, a hat, and a scarf. Whether you wear hiking shoes or boots, soles with a strong grip are essential.

WHAT ARE THE SAFETY AND FIRST AID MEASURES?

The Estancia has a DA Defibrillator, the staff is trained in CPR, and we always have an emergency first aid kit on hand.

CAN I VISIT ESTANCIA CRISTINA ALL YEAR ROUND?

Visits run daily from October 1st to April 30th – even on special dates such as Christmas and New Year’s Eve. From May 1st to September 30th, Estancia Cristina is closed.

HOW LONG IS A DAY’S VISIT TO THE ESTANCIA?

The expedition lasts 10 hours in total, 6 hours at Estancia Cristina plus 4 hours of navigation, considering the round trip. Additionally, we must include the time of land transfers to Puerto Punta Bandera, which can be one hour each way.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO PARK MY CAR AT THE PORT?

Yes, Puerto Punta Bandera has an open-air parking lot.

CAN THE EXPEDITIONS BE CANCELED DUE TO RAIN?

The trekking expedition is the only activity that weather conditions can stop. The Classic, Glaciar Upsala lookout, and Horseback Ride expeditions operate even when it rains.

ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR THE ACTIVITIES?

The Trekking expedition is for people over 12 years old.
Horseback Ride Expedition is from 6 years old and without previous experience.
Please respectfully note that we have a riding weight limit of 15stone / 95kg / 210lbs.

IS THE PARK ENTRANCE TICKET MANDATORY?

Yes, the park entrance fee is mandatory. You can purchase it online at the National Parks Administration website or request it from our sales representative.

WHAT FOOD AND BEVERAGE DOES ESTANCIA CRISTINA OFFER?

Glaciar Upsala Lookout & Classic expeditions include a family-style lunch in El Quincho.

Trekking Expedition includes a lunch box.

The horseback Ride Expedition includes an outdoor lunch. 

Beverages are included during meals.

IS THERE CELL PHONE SIGNAL OR WI-FI ON THE ESTANCIA?

Given the remote location, the connection is only with the force of nature. There is no cell phone signal or wi-fi service.
